I can’t believe I’ve never read this author before! Mrs. Lynn’s storytelling and writing really worked for me, so I really have to try her other books in the near future. "Detoured by Love" was one of the best adult romance I’ve read this year. Needless to say, Mrs. Lynn really impressed me with this one. The story was fantastically written, gripping and held me at the edge of my seat the entire time for many reasons. "Detoured by Love" was equally heartbreaking and heartwarming, engaging from start to finish and had a little bit of everything.For Carly, her job, besides her family, means everything. She’s a corporate travel agent and loves what she does for a living very much. She doesn’t have no one to answer to and no one who expects things from her and she loves it this way. She’s hardworking and independent and she’s not looking for love, a relationship or even a fling, believing she can’t have a successful career and love at the same time. On top of that, she’s very close to get a promotion so she doesn’t want to screw everything up with a relationship interference. On a beach in the Carribean, Carly meets a cocky stranger who fascinates her like no other man she met before. The stranger is no one other than the superstar NFL quarterback Bryan Garrity, who like Carly is intrigued from the very beginning. Bryan is in the Carribean trying to recover after an injury. Needless to say, he needs a break more than ever. He’s not looking for a relationship, but he must admit Carly is the first woman in a long time who intrigues him.
While neither of these two are looking for a relationship, they can’t deny the strong attraction between them and what starts eventually as a fling slowly, but surely becomes so much more for both of them.
I really enjoyed my first read by this author. Th story was very addictive, well written, entertaining and very easy to read. I enjoyed the storyline a lot and I liked the fact that it had a little bit of everything. The story was fun and light for a good part, but also angsty and emotional. I didn’t find the story to be utterly emotional or dramatic, but I have to say I didn’t expect the story to progress the way it did. Needless to say, Carly and Bryant’s story was one of the most refreshing sports romance I’ve read so far.
Carly and Bryant were wonderful characters. Both of them were endearing and so very well developed. I really liked how well their backgrounds were developed and how well we get to know them as the story unfolds. I liked Carly. She was fun and overall an endearing character, but I have to admit that Bryant stole the show for me. He was great hero from start to finish and I absolutely loved the way he was with our heroine and his dedication towards her. Since I don’t want to give anything away about them, I can’t say anything else. The relationship between these two was wonderful and progressed in such an authentic, fantastically way. Nothing between these two was rushed, there wasn’t any miscommunication between them and the entire time they acted like adults which I enjoyed.
All in all, "Detoured by Love" was a wonderful read that I highly recommend if you are looking for a sweet, emotional read with two mature, endearing characters, engaging story line and fantastic writing.

This book will touch you. It will cause you to cry (or at least it should). Throw a NFL quarterback and a woman who really doesn't know who he is and you have a good story. Angsty in parts and sad in parts. Good storyline that will touch your heart. I don't know if I missed something while reading, but I had a few questions about certain things in the epilogue. That is the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars. Dual point of view. No cliffhanger.
I love this author when I started reading "The Love Surfaced Series" I thought this book was another sports romance but it was so much more. I was not expecting that twist, I was anxious to know what was going to happen next I was even going to skip to the end to see how it ends. Bryant is the perfect book boyfriend, although Carly has her reasons for being stubborn I still love her and their relationship. The secondary characters were a great addition to their story and character. I just love this book, I want more deleted scenes of my new favorite couple.
This was a great story about two people finding love when it’s the last thing either of them are looking for. I loved Bryant! He & Carly met at a resort & then again back home. The attraction between them is strong & once Bryant comes to terms with his feelings he is in one hundred percent. Carly also has strong feelings for Bryant but there are obstacles in her life that scare her & make her push loved ones away. I loved how Bryant put his own feelings aside to give Carly space but I did wish he had fought a little harder for her.
Bryant has been focused on one this for so long, winning that football game and getting that ring. He has worked hard to keep him self on top, but when an injury slows him down for a while, he has not much to do but think. Thinking can sometimes lead you astray, or it can make you focus a little harder. He has never loved the popularity and exposure of the press. So when he meets Carly and she has no idea who he is, it is refreshing.
Carly is done with relationships, been there done that. Her life includes travel and being away for weeks at a time. She found out that people will tell you one thing while meaning another all along. This is her life an she is going to live it the way she wants to, not how anybody tells her to. When she meets Bryant though she has a hard time staying away.
Can Bryant put the time into having a relationship along with football? Will Carly open up and let him in or push him away when things get tough? Will the past lead push them to not give love a chance? Can they find a HEA?
I love the emotion that Michelle always puts in her books and it is overflowing in this book. Fear, indecision, desire, and love, a love so strong that it outweighs all the others and bring us hope. While reading this book, i was cheering for this couple wanting them to get past the issues and find their way to happiness.
Thank you Michelle for sharing a little about you with this book. I loved the book while reading but your final remarks made me love just that little bit more. I know that every book you write as an author as a little bit of you in it but you gave us so much more this time. I hope everyone gives Detoured by Love a chance.
This is such an inspiring and heart-warming read! I swear, I fall in love with Bryant in every chapter! And I fell in love with him the most in Chapter Thirty Two! And I'm pretty sure you all will agree with me!
The banters, the twist, the crazy family and the heart in this story will definitely stay with you, even after you've read the last page. I can't get enough of them!
