I was drawn to this as it was supposed to be about an opera singer. Being an opera nut, it appealed. It didn't take long to realize that the author didn't have much of a clue about opera. For instance, one of the townspeople mentioned that they had seen Madame Butterfly and thought that "Grace" looked just like the character of Kate. Now, Kate is probably the smallest part in the opera and no one is likely to remember her. Also, it doesn't seem that any director worth his salt in New York would be directing in an amateur theater in a small town. That said, it was somewhat fun to read and mostly held my interest. But, I must say, Grace, for all her worldly experience, was really dumb sometimes. How could she possibly fall for that creep and believe him. Oh well, it was a free book.

This book should have been called "Saving Grace from herself". The book started out promising but as it progressed I became totally frustrated by the heroine. She is running for her life and leaving everything behind , but immediately shares part of what she is trying to hide to the first good looking guy that expresses an interest in her. Then makes rash judgements about the hero, which she compounds by being rude and not grateful for his help. To me the heroine was not very likeable and immature. I am glad I got this book for free.
This is the first book in the series and it was a great start. Truly inspirational, about fighting and not giving up but also about nit closing your heart to the future possibilities of happiness. Grace escaped to Madison falls to get away from a crazy fan/ stalker, she moved there hoping to eventually move back to her old life what she finds there is that maybe her old life isn't as good as it can be. Great Book can't wait until the next one.
The second book in this series was part of a bundle called Exposed. As I wanted to know the story from the beginning I downloaded this book & thoroughly enjoyed the story of Grace & the trials she faces. I was then able to read the sequel & look forward to further books in this series.
Imagine that you are just achieving your dream career and then someone throws a monkey wrench in it all. That is just what happens to aspiring opera singer Tracy Fontaine, when an admirer of hers transforms into a stalker. Poor Tracy must flee to a small poe-dunk town in Montana, change her name and assume the most reclusive role of her life. But unfortunately, her city airs attracts the attention of everyone in town, including two attractive men and suddenly she is an integral part of small town life. The question is can Tracy, aka Grace Addison, settle her heart on the right man, stay out of the dangerous grasp of her stalker and find ultimate peace?
I think author, Lesley Ann McDaniel did a remarkable job with a complex story line and intriguing characters. She obviously knows her away around a manuscript. I love the way she wove sub-plots with main plot and tied it all together expertly at the end. This book is a winner!
Saving Grace contained far more suspense than I thought it would. You enter the world of a young lady that is on the run. We don't know what exactly she is running from at first. What we realize early on is, that whatever it is, she is completely on edge and running on her last nerve. She is jumpy and suspicious of nearly every one and every thing in the town she has chosen as her getaway spot. The town of Madison Falls is about as far from the sophisticated life of New York city as one can imagine. Grace discovers that it is both not far enough and just far enough. Author Lesley Ann McDaniel has crafted a fine suspense novel with enough just enough romance to keep the reader off balance. Who can Grace trust with her secrets, with her life and the failed plumbing? Pick up a copy and find out for your self.
The writing is good in this book, I enjoyed reading it. The main character was sometimes annoying, true. She did overreact terribly, but there were repercussions for it, and she did learn her lesson. Don't we all have personality issues we have to overcome? It was nice to see a heroine that actually did some things she shouldn't have done, and not just be perfect all the time.
The main male character however, could have been just a little less perfect. )
But really, it was a good book, and I will look for more by this author.
I really tried to like this book, unfortunately, it didn't happen. The main charactor, Grace, was just plain annoying, if not stupid. The secondary characters were more likable. I did like the hero, Sam, but never felt a connection between he and Grace. The entire book was about them tolerating each other, her more than him, followed by an almost kiss, before she went back to the guy she really wanted. The last few pages of the book she declared her love, with the first kiss on the last page. The entire book, at least for me, was mechanical, no warmth or depth. The storyline has possibilities, as does future books, but it's going to require assistance from a coauthor, or a really good editor. That's just my opinion. Based on the reviews, others feel differently.
